I've had the worst luck with web hosting. I've been through four webhosts in four years and non of them were reliable. They were all recommended to me and what I've heard from my friends is that they usually have the same problems from other hosts so I've hesitated moving again b/c it's kind of a pain but I think I might have to.
Anyway, Steve from Movingpixels is looking into some other options for us and again my apologies for the downtime on the forum and I also am not getting any email.
On the bright side I've gotten some killer new books that I've been reading and so I'll post them up later.
:) Happy Monday!

thanks DJ.... hoping OSP will be up again soon! Too bad, I guess I actually have to work now. :(
I third Media Temple! I was just about to recommend them to you but looks like I got beat to it! :)
cool - thanks! They look great - I will get in touch with them too.
TextDrive or MediaTemple
WestHost - http://westhost.com
If I wasn't with BigFolio, then I would be hosting with Westhost.
I actually do use them for my personal stuff.
powweb hosted my website for 2 weeks... it was down for like 12 of those days though...
I have used lunarpages.com for over a year now and have NO complaints yet. Just my two cents.
I miss OSP, thanx for doing all you do DJ to provide such a wonderful medium for sharing knowledge and making friendships.
I use iPowerWeb and rarely have problems with them. The longest my site has been down was like 12 hours or something, but overall they are pretty darn reliable, and the price is right.
Sorry to hear about your web hosting woes... I look forward to the forum being back up soon!
Ahhh, OSP, the proverbial two-edged sword. So time consuming when it is up but so missed when it is down.
Dude - there is only one you need to look at. I PROMISE you they are rock solid with amazing support.

I guess meeksdigital and I have something in common.
I didnt see your post until I posted. "
Hah, better two than none! iPowerWeb does do a pretty darn good job... good to see someone else who uses them ;-)
Pair networks has been incredibly good to me. (pair.com)
cool - the thing that usually gets us is the forum. With so many awesome people on there it requires a lot of "resources" (whatever that means) from the server so the average server can get overloaded and that's why I had it on an account that should've been able to handle it but aparently not.
I'm gonna see what Steve suggests and then I'll look into media temple and some of the others.
Thanks again for all your input! You all are the greatest!
:)

Hi DJ,
There are only two that I recommend. The first is FutureQuest.net out of Florida. There's some serious brainpower under their roof and the reliability is as stellar as any host I have seen. Never seen a bad word about them (aside from price gripes) which I cannot say about any other host, even the ones mentioned in this thread.
The other option is hosting your own server with Rackspace (I currently manage a server there -- not ONE day of downtime in four years) or with The Planet (I have my personal server with them).
What are your requirements?
Sounds good DJ.. Don't forget to check out this thread - http://www.httpme.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30723 - they have a nice VPS server for about $125 a month which is ROCK solid. I have one myself :)
Even if you don't go with the above, always check if they have a forum where you can see real customers talking about the services provided.
Lastly, you can also try on webhostingtalk.com for advice or to search for the names provided by other people.
DJ - your last videos on workflow were wonderful so nice to get the info via e-mail... thanks!

I don't have email right now so if you've tried to email me - sorry. :(
Post your message here.
Is OSP gone for good:(
That was me:)

Hi DJ,
maybe we should think about a cold standby server for OSP. Since i have plenty of free resources on my webservers, i can offer this to you almost for free.
I am registered at OSP under the Nick JuMayr. Please contact me when you are interested in.
Yours
Juergen
Hey, how do we get access to the chat room?
I had the same problem this week with my hosting company. I had to move from globat.com after they refused to own up to their server problems that was causing my website and blog to launch into a death spiral. After a week of puling out my hair, I finally got everything moved over (I think) to another hosting company. I am now using Godaddy but time will tell if they are reputable...
Good luck with the move--the world is not the same without OSP!
Re: amount of resources the forum consumes, could you not let people upload photos and get them to link from somewhere else (e.g. photobucket, flickr)
This might save you a hell of a lot of space / bandwidth / whatever it is that's gone.
I second

sorry you haven't been getting your email due to all of this(and us:)
I hate that!
and thanks for helping keep us all connected!
Hey DJ,
Yikes! Sorry to hear about all of your web troubles. I hope the forum is back up soon. I'm going through withdrawals!
I am a tech consultant by day, wannabe photog at night, but I would recommend RACKSPACE hands down. They are customer service fanatics. read their agreements, its amazing. When any of my clients have a significant web hosting need I send them there. They can own the servers or you can. www.rackspace.com
If you want the forums up and your store online, I would only recommend a host who is skilled and experienced at maintaining transactional business websites.
