I really enjoy decorating. It's super fun. I'm not very good at the details but I like getting big stuff and then slowly piecing it together. My downstairs room has been a real tricky room to figure out what to do with but I've finally decided to make it a dining room with a spa feel. I have most of the big pieces but now I really need to fill it up with lots more stuff to make it a bit more cozy. I don't like a lot of stuff so my house is very open and free of clutter but this room is gonna need to be filled up for it to be comfy.
Just yesterday I got this rug. It's handmade in Afghanistan and I did a little wheeling and dealing with the guy. I bargain for everything now. It's really fun and it was cool b/c he asked me what I did for a living and I never know what to tell people anymore so I just told him I was in software and he said "oh I want to make a website for my business" and I was like no way. Let's swap. I need another rug for upstairs and rugs are crazy expensive so I'm gonna whip him up a Showit site and get a rug. Very cool.
We've been really stoked at how many people are using Showit to build new businesses or as an extra product in their business. Several web designers have popped up because now someone doesn't need to know code anymore and I know of a few photographers who have sold their photography services along with a website so it's cool to think of a website as another product you can offer potential clients or just use it to barter and get free stuff!

DJ! A little unimpressed that Amanda, Misty and I didn't get a decorator's credit... ;)
Haha!!! Just kiddingggg! Thanks again for your hospitality yesterday--that Mexican place was AMAZING! :)
Dang, look at you! I literally have ZERO design skills. Poor, poor Lindsay :D
I am impressed with the bargain skills!! Nice rug too.
Beautiful rug (i have a thing for rugs though haha)...but I can't bargain...darn it! :D:D
Loving that table.
Isn't it weird how some "coincidences" happen?? This weekend I was at the Home and Garden Show at the convention center with Aaron and my parents. Apparently it's the largest one in the country-- it was a little overwhelming... there were a bajillion booths. I feel like we only made it to 1/5th of them in 2 1/2 hours we were there! But there was this one booth we decided to stop by. It was a closet/office organzer company. I'm like, "Hi, what sort of things do you guys do?" My mom was funny and totally jumped in, "She's a photographer and she wants to fix up her office... oops sorry... I'll let you tell her..." haha:) The woman is like, "That is so crazy, because I actually am in serious need of a photographer, and I've been asking around, but can't find what I'm looking for..." Apparently she needed some shots of the staff, and she needed them within 2 weeks. Booked the job right there, ha! Of all the booths we could have stopped at!
For decorating inspirations, I look through Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel catalogs(you can have them sent to your home for free--just go to their websites and sign up). Crazily enough, Target also has a lot of gorgeous stuff lately too. It's also ok to mix in some of your own ideas too-- I try to get second opinions before I do it though, cause I feel like sometimes I do know what I'm doing, and other times I don't, ha!:)
look at you bartering fiend! lol. your place is looking really good. i love it when all the pieces at my house have a good story. like i really put some thought into everything around me.
