So today it was really fun to log onto this thread and see people posting how they found OSP and so I posted up that it was just destiny that brought us all together and that reminded me of something I saw today that MUST BE DESTINY as well.
...right below my place is one of the best magazines in CA - Santa Barbara Magazine and as I was walking home today I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw their new cover...because of the title of the article of course! That's the same title they used for my Professional Photographer article!
I mean what are the chances of that! So I started thinking that maybe it's destiny that I meet this girl so I went home and sure enough my copy was buried underneath a stack of mail and I opened it up and saw that there was a photoshoot from the Bacara in there and my last shoot was at the Bacara! So I'm thinking ok that's two big signs but I'm gonna need something even bigger to fully believe so I turn the page and there is one of my pictures featured as their main wedding! This must be divine!

Don't magazines generally tell you in advance when they're using photos from your shoot?

Drop what you're doing and spend the next 8 hours searching for the cover girl. (That's 6 hours getting ready and 2 hours schmoozing "her people".) Let me be the first to volunteer to shoot the wedding!

okay, the SHORT short version...
I randomly found FSU online one day (never heard of it before and applied randomly). Got a BIG scholarship to University of Tampa so I went to visit and asked once I got to FL if I could go visit FSU. While on tour (I fell in love with the people there and everything about it) I look down where we're standing and see my name with MY spelling (no one spells it like I do!) and a symbol by it. I KNEW it was a sign.
Fast forward and I've moved to FL and know not a SINGLE person there and it's such a rush. A few weeks later on campus and I'm walking down by that sidewalk that has my name on it and notice that the symbol is a kite. I had JUST pledged KAO sorority and our symbol is a kite. WEIRD.
Looking back, my life would have been COMPLETELY different (I'd prolly be a married nurse in Ohio with three kids by now and know nothing of photography or business) had I not gone there and made those friends and I'm sooooo glad I made that decision that day when I saw that marking in the sidewalk. My best friends in the world are some of those that I met that first few weeks.
Okay - that was reaaallly long. Satisfied??
