Philly Party!

So this last weekend I was invited to Philly to celebrate my friend Ole's birthday. He's a photographer who's been shooting mostly for LifeTouch for the past couple of years but he shoots some weddings and portraits on his own as well. It was an awesome party and a great group of people!

He lives close to this Amish community and it was really interesting to see how the Amish people live. They still drive around in horse drawn carriages and apparently they don't have electricity either. I couldn't imagine living like that (no OSP!) and it reminded me of a movie to see these people living like people lived 100 years ago.

Here's a video of one of the little carriages ...and watch the big red truck fly past right behind it!

Thanks Ole and Heidi for the awesome time! Can't wait to see you guys again!

You have just received the Amish Virus! Since we do not have electricity nor computers, you are on the honor system. Please delete all of your files. Thank thee.

DJ-
That is cool that you got to see that... I actually live one hour from a LARGE amish community and my dad takes me rabbit hunting on a lot of their farms every year. It's very peaceful out there and amazing what they do to survive... but like you said... I could never do it.

One time we were talking to some kids and they said they sneak into the hotel (bed and breakfast) in town to watch the football games in the lobby. Also the dad always keeps a bottle of whisky in the barn for when it gets cold. (or maybe cause he gets bored lol) They make their own clothes, food, and usually about 5 or 6 different families share a car to go places that are to far for the horse. It's a different world out there. But they are actually getting better every year... they have added new things like automatic flushing toilets and automatic sinks in the restraunts. They are moving up!!!!
