So DUMB!

So I go online to make my mortgage payment today and to set it up as autopay and here are the steps:

1. Go online and type in your Loan number
- error "The account number you provided is incorrect"
2. Type it in again super carefully
- error "The account number you provided is incorrect"
3. Wow - I must have made a mistake - type it in again...
- error "The account number you provided is incorrect"

***This is madness so I called the company***

4. Apologize thinking I must've been doing something wrong but he informs me that in order to setup an online payment you have to go online and try to set it up and get the error message which says your account number is wrong (even though it isn't) and then eventually call in and they set it up manually. WOW! ...It gets better....

Then he
also informed me that there is a $15 charge everytime to pay online. UH....are you serious? I asked the guy.

There is no charge for me to mail a check which requires somebody to receive the check, match it with my account and then go and deposit it....but there is a charge for all of that to happen automatically online with nobody involved.

I can't believe how dumb some systems are. Anyway, Wells Fargo has automatic bill pay where they will chop down trees and then print a check and then chop down more trees and put it in an envelope with a stamp and then have the mailman drive around in there little gas powered cars and smog up the world and deliver a check for me free of charge so I could set it up that way but I feel bad and it pisses me off that this system is so backwards.

yeah that makes absolutely NO sense...I wonder how they even justify the cost of the online fee?

That is thoroughly idiotic. We switched banks because of that very reason.

I don't know if that post is supposed to be funny or sad.

It's kinda both!

It's funny how stupid somethings are, but sad that they are that way.

Crazy, I hate things like that.

I do everything online and paper free these days except when customers pay via cheque which is still quite often and then I have to go through the hassle of mailing it in to the bank.

Which reminds me of another stupid bank system, I mailed the first cheque in to the address on the paying in book and couldnt work out why it still hadnt cleared after 2 weeks, so I called the bank and asked why and apprently I should have mailed the cheque in to the address on their website not the one in the paying in book.

So I go to the website to find the address for future cheques to be mailed to and after logging in I search the whole site but dont find it.

I call the bank back up and they told me I would have to log out and then search the website as the adress section isnt shown when your logged in.

Truelly they have a wonderful system.... NOT!

DJ,

When we set up our online payment of our mortgage there was a fee to pay it online. However, our bank waived the fee if you were to set it up as an automatic payment.

Try talking to someone else to see if this is the case.

Good luck,
Michael

With all the trees burning around you...I don't blame you for being sensitive!
That is totally ass backwards and is indicative of many industries, although sometimes we have to pay for convenience! Change the world DJ!

So why did you choose this mortgage company anyway? Maybe it is their way to make $$ on the backend of the sale. Probably the company is run by an x-photographer.

That's the most backwards system I have ever heard of. That's if you can even call getting your clients annoyed a "system"

LOLOL...MY husband would TOTALLY agree with you...as I do too..but I'm laughing cause while I'm reading what you wrote...I can hear my husband saying the same thing. IT IS RIDICULOUS & people are just DUMB!!!!!

That's crazy-- not kidding, yesterday I tried to log in to my Wells account. Well, if you forget the password 3 times in a row (which I did..but I remembered teh 4th time!), then you're locked out and have to call.
LAME.
I just get my bills online, right, but I still get them in paper too... as you said, they chop down trees.
Really not necessary if I'm getting them all online, no??
Again, lame.

Hee hee! Welcome to the mad, mad world of mortgages. Ours is the same way and I do the same thing, using my bank's free bill-pay system to send them a check.

The online fee must be to cover the cost of their web developer. Those guys can be expensive ...

I don't know if I've ever seen DJ fiery...I like it too! ;)

Hey man...you're acting like you just bought your first house.

Oh...wait...

My bad. :p

The check by phone option is nice when you need to beat the grace period by a few hours before the late fee kicks in. Let's hope you never find out the hard way (like I did)...they shut down the system from accepting online / phone payments just a few hours before the late fee kicks in. DOH!!!

So...how do you really feel?

Nick, that totally sucks!

What's up with these banks?

Let's create our own bank, people.

What the??? We pay ours w/them also, & we don't have a fee. Must be some sort of CA thing?

What exactly are your true feelings on this issue :)?

Dude, pay it out of your bank account instead of through their site. No fee.
