Dave, you're saying exactly what I'm seeing already. Brides are getting more sophistocated and demand better photography. They're demanding more services and more innovative ideas. Photographers are not interchangable like competing products on a shelf. And the best (only?) way to show them we're different is to forge relationships. Keep it up! The message is getting out there!
DJ, rock on Bud!You continue to be one of the biggest motivators and inspirational people in my life and so many others. You keep the dream alive and the drive going forward by reminding us of the possibilities.I just hope we can do the same for others by following your examples. It is with great pleasure that we all call you our friend.Really, from the heart...we can never thank you enough!
Fantastic DJ, I'm staying tuned.....
When I grow up I want to be just like you... :-)DJ You are truly an inspiration, keep up the good work and I can't wait to hear the rest...... Thank you for being the forerunner.J@KE
David, I found a link somewhere here or there where you had a video of you shooting a wedding where the bride was late. I wanted to look at it again but could not find it anywhere. Could you send it ot me in a link or something. Vince
Hey thanks everyone! Honestly - your friendships and encouragement means the world to me.Here's a link to a little clip from that mexico video and we are just making a few finishing touches on it and then we'll get it printed up and out to everyone. It's so fun!CLICK HERE For the video.:)
Hey DJ, In the video you just said the future of your business isn't in fancy promo material but 2 days ago you were plugging Beckers promo material. Aloha, Kincaid
:) Becker is a self contained marketing machine and has an incredible business with several employees. He also setup his business several years ago and has it dialed in like nobody I've ever seen so it would be more costly for him, and possible damaging to his brand, to change and he doesn't really have a reason to change because he's rockin! If somebody wants to take his approach they could make a lot of money doing it - but they're gonna spend A LOT of money and time getting it going. My approach is more about freedom than money and I think if you're starting out now you're better off focusing on the intangibles rather than the tangibles...but I still get inspired and learn a ton from people like Becker who have led the charge and gotten this industry to where it is now!:)
So excited!!!So now you really are a rock star(already knew that all along..)!! Tour dates and everything:) hehe!
Yeah, I like your approach. But Beckers set up is pretty sweet. Thanks, Kincaid
You just solidified your stud status! Well done DJ!Sarah's right, you ARE a rockstar!
DJ,I didn't see Minneapolis on your tour list? How did you/pictage come up with the PUG meetings that you would be speaking at. Any suggestions on how to make a baby PUG grow into a healthy happy PUG? I missed our last meeting due to WPPI, but it appears that we are having a hard time getting attendence. Keep up the good work, and I hope you have one of those sweet tour buses to go with the road show :)
Yay!! I'm SO excited for you DJ...so, can I get hooked up with backatge passes? ;)
Very cool. Does show it web require you to use RAW and CS2 or is it just that you can use the benefits of the Bridge stuff if you shoot in RAW?I was about to invest $3000 in all new storage and make the jump to RAW. I prayed about it and came up with this super cool JPG workflow. It's smokin. Took me from 4 days of perfectionistic ediding to 1 day and all the images still rock!!! But I need to do the slideshow marketing thing. That said, show it seems to be the best option. Let me know.I hope you come to Columbus, OH.
Dave, you're saying exactly what I've wanted to do and have since I started shooting a year ago. Brides & grooms shouldn't just be our clients they should be our friends in the beginnning and end. As photographers we are the only vendors who have the most contact with the bride and groom throughout the day. So if we can establish our work on a more personal level then that will distinguish us from the competition. Keep being the great leader and visionary that you are!
Jim - dude - You were at my lecture in Vegas when I did live demos of Showit Effects and Showit Web. No soup for you!:)
